{"id":3948,"date":"2019-12-11T11:55:55","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T11:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thomasgroupltd.co.uk\/?p=3948"},"modified":"2019-12-11T11:55:55","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T11:55:55","slug":"avoiding-servicing-over-cost-fears-is-alarming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomasgroupltd.co.uk\/avoiding-servicing-over-cost-fears-is-alarming\/","title":{"rendered":"Avoiding servicing over cost fears is \u201calarming\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Half of UK drivers worry about unexpected car bills<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomasgroupltd.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/New-Car-Breakdown-illustration.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3960\" width=\"309\" height=\"222\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"color:#3287ab\" class=\"has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Millions of motorists are avoiding car maintenance over fears of unexpected problems, with many admitting that they avoid getting their car serviced in case vehicle faults are found.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around half of UK drivers (47 per cent) worry about having to pay for unexpected car repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey of 2,000 motorists also found that a quarter (24 per cent) of those who worry about unexpected problems say this uncertainty is putting them off getting their car serviced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research suggests that drivers are paying hundreds of pounds to pass an MOT, with five per cent paying \u00a31,000 or more to get their vehicle through the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further MOT analysis reveals that around 40 per cent of cars fail their MOT at the first attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lauren French, product manager at RAC MOT Assist, the company behind the research, said: \u201cClearly, taking a car in for a service or MOT can be a nerve-wracking experience with many drivers concerned about what might be uncovered, and the unpleasant financial consequences that can result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s even more alarming that this experience is enough to put some people off getting their car serviced in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust how many people are driving vehicles on the UK\u2019s roads that they know have problems?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe best advice to any driver is to keep on top of servicing and maintenance work \u2013 the quicker problems are identified, often the cheaper they are to remedy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Half of UK drivers worry about unexpected car bills Millions of motorists are avoiding car maintenance over fears of unexpected problems, with many admitting that they avoid getting their car serviced in case vehicle faults are found.
