A petition has been launched in order to get the Government to retract their plans to change the length of time between MOTs.
The Government has planned to extend the period before a vehicle has it’s first MOT from 3 years to 4 years. Quite a few Garages, Mechanics and people who have signed the petition have agreed that it is ‘dangerous, expensive, damaging and unnecessary’.
Who is backing the petiton?
- Independent Garage Association (IGA)
- Garage Equipment Association (GEA)
- National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA)
- Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA)
- National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA)
The petition must reach 10,000 signatures or more before the Government responds to it and have further debate in Parliament.
The petition is running until 23rd July 2023.
