As many of you should know, diesel fuel is essential for the operation of your vehicle. It is a lubricant to all components in your diesel fuel system and also helps cool the vehicle down. To ensure that the diesel fuel does all of this effectively, it needs to be free of contamination.

What do we mean by contamination?

All sorts of things can get into your fuel…water, debris, dirt, microbes, metal fragments, bugs etc. If these contaminants are left in the fuel and in the vehicle it can cause severe damage to the fuel system and sometimes even the engine.

How can you protect your vehicle from contaminated fuel?

There is a variety of different things you can do when it comes to controlling contaminated fuel.

  1. Diesel Fuel Additive

A little bit of Diesel Fuel Additive can be added into your fuel which acts as a protectant for your vehicle. When the fuel goes round the fuel system, so does the additive which protects it from damage and contaminants.

2. Biocide

The treat rate for the Biocide is 2500:1, meaning a little bit in your fuel goes a long way. Adding Biocide into your fuel kills any bacteria, prevents blockages and prevents any more bacteria from growing. This resulting in clean, pure fuel which will prevent damage to your fuel system.

3. Kolor Kut Paste

Kolor Kut Paste is used to see if there is any water in your fuel. The paste will change colours depending on whether there is any water in your fuel. Again, the Kolor Kut paste is useful to use and to have as water in your fuel can damage your fuel system as well.

4. Funnels

If you want to look for an alternative option and treat the fuel before you put it in your vehicle, the Fuel Filter Funnels would be useful to you. These funnels will filter all of the nastiness out of your fuel, resulting in only pure fuel going into your tank.

5. Water/Fuel Separator

Another alternative are the Water/Fuel Separators. With a range of sizes, there is one to fit any vehicle. The glass bowls on the end of the filters are so that the water can be caught and released, relieving the fuel of any water. This again, will keep your fuel system in good condition and will prevent further damage.

6. Water Soakers

A water soaker is a super absorbent polymer with a mesh filter containment. The higher absorbency allows it to remove water build-up in your fuel tank. Water can get inside your fuel tank for a variety of reasons, one of these being because of condensation. The water soaker lays at the bottom of the fuel tank and will remove all current water build up and prevent any from happening in the future.
